Doctor's new best friend!

Baby breathings is a device that self-regulates the amount of oxygen supplied depending on oxygen saturation (SpO2) of the baby. With this device, oxygen therapy treatment will be more accurate due to the complete monitoring and the capability to response to SpO2 fluctuations.

Simulation

Due to we are working on a medical device the tests with real patients is complicated, then we started to test our device's behavior simulating the many cases that can be possible whilst an oxygen therapy treatment

Prototype

At the moment we have a first prototype of baby breathings, the prototype is capable of measuring SpO2, Temperature, Heart rate and Respiratory rate. Additionally the device can supply the oxygen flow by controlling a knob based on the mentioned parameters values.

Tests

Currently the prototype can measure 4 vital signs, enough variables to execute an oxygentherapy treatment, additionally we have the parameter recording that can record the fluctuations of the parameters. The control module is working depending on the main variable, oxygen saturation.

.

Now we are in talkings with medical staff at a hospital in order to get the opportunity to test our device in neonatal patients with the aim to verify the measurments in the children.

Validation Process

Once we get the first tests of measurement on real patients, we must to improve the device quality, changing some materials and build a design freeze of Baby Breathings with the aim to get the certifications needed to start with real treatment at the hospital.

Oxygen saturation

Oxygen saturation is an essential element in the management and understanding of patient care. Oxygen saturation measures how much hemoglobin is currently bound to oxygen compared to how much hemoglobin remains unbound. Due to the critical nature of tissue oxygen consumption in the body, it is essential to be able to monitor current oxygen saturation.

Pulse rate

WhatsApp Image 2021-05-15 at 2.33.15 PM.

Pulse or heart rate is the number of times your heart beats in one minute. Press rates vary from person to person. Your pulse is lower when you are at rest and increases when you exercise.

Respiration rate

The respiration rate is the number of breaths a person takes per minute. The rate is usually measured when a person is at rest and simply involves counting the number of breaths for one minute by counting how many times the chest rises.

Oxygen supply

In order to treat patients with respiratory complications, oxygen administration at concentrations higher than room air (21%) should be the first strategy implemented in patients. In oxygen therapy, oxygen must be delivered correctly and safely.
